Common Questions

How does IsItDownForEveryone work?

We use a globally distributed network of 144 monitoring nodes. When you enter a URL, our system pings that server from multiple geographic locations simultaneously to verify if it's responding to HTTP/HTTPS requests. This eliminates the 'it's just me' factor caused by local ISP or routing issues.

What is the difference between UP and DOWN status?

An 'UP' status means the server responded with a healthy HTTP status code (typically 200 OK) within our timeout period. A 'DOWN' status indicates the server failed to respond, returned a 5xx server error, or experienced a connection timeout.

Can I check mobile app status?

Yes! While we check the web domain, most mobile apps rely on the same backend infrastructure. If the website is down, the app is likely experiencing issues as well.

How often are the status reports updated?

Our live monitor (available on the Outages page) refreshes every 60 seconds. Individual site checks are performed in real-time the moment you click 'Check Status'.

Is my data private when I check a site?

Absolutely. We do not store your browsing history or sensitive personal information. We only process the URL provided to perform the diagnostic check.
